µPHYL Alumni

Graduate Students

David Bober

David B. Bober was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2010-2011. He received a B.S. degree in Engineering from Swarthmore College in 2009. He subsequently pursued Ph.D. studies at the University of California, Irvine.

Jonathan Boreyko

Jonathan B. Boreyko was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2008-2012. He received his Ph.D. degree from Duke University in 2012 and subsequently joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow.

Roger Chavez

Roger L. Chavez was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2013-2015. He received his M.S. degree from Duke University in 2014 and joined Epic Systems as a project manager in 2015.

Meng-Han Chiang

Meng-Han Chiang was a research assistant in the µPHYL group in 2008 and received an M.S. degree from Duke University in December 2008. He subsequently joined Shanda Corporation in Taiwain as a manager.

Benjamin Goldman

Benjamin D. Goldman was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2011. He received a B.S. degree in Physics from Connecticut College in 2010. He subsequently pursued Ph.D. studies in Aerospace Engineering at Duke University.

Fangjie Liu

Fangjie Liu was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2010-2015. She received her PhD. degree from Duke University in 2015 and subsequently joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow.

Shagun Maheshwari

Shagun Maheshwari was a graduate student in the µPHYL group in 2015-2016. She  received her M.S. degree from  Duke University in 2016, and subsequently joined Applied Materials as a mechanical engineer.

Shenren Xu

Shenren Xu was a research assistant in the µPHYL group in 2008-2010 and received an M.S. degree from Duke University in May 2010. He subsequently pursued graduate studies in Aerospace Engineering at Duke University.

Kungang Zhang

Kungang Zhang was a research assistant in the µPHYL group in 2012-2014 and received an M.S. degree from Duke University in December 2014. He subsequently pursued Ph.D. studies in Industrial Engineering at Northwestern University.

 

Postdoctoral Associates

Xiaopeng Qu

Xiaopeng Qu was a postdoc in the µPHYL group in 2012-2015 after receiving a Ph.D. degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2010. Xiaopeng subsequently joined University of South Carolina as a postdoc.

Xiaodong Zhang

Xiaodong Zhang was a postdoc in the µPHYL group in 2007-2008 after receiving a Ph.D. degree from Duke University. He subsequently joined Harvard University as a postdoctoral researcher in Materials Science.

Yuejun Zhao

Yuejun (Eugene) Zhao was a postdoc in the µPHYL group in 2009-2011 after receiving a Ph.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He subsequently joined Telecardia Corp as a senior MEMS engineer.

 

Undergraduate Students

Christopher Baker

Christopher H. Baker was a Pratt Research Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2009-2010 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2010. He subsequently pursued graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Virginia.

Eeshan Bhatt

Eeshan C. Bhatt was a Pratt Research Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2014-2015 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2015. He subsequently pursued graduate studies in Oceanic Engineering at MIT.

Chance Bozeman

Chance F. Bozeman was an REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2012. After the internship, he continued to pursue his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Virginia.

Carrina Dong

Qingyuan (Carrina) Dong was a Class of 2016 student majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Duke University. She was a work-study student in the µPHYL group in 2013-2015.

Mike Grobinski

Michael C. Grobinski was an REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2013. After the internship, he continued to pursue his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Wilkes University.

Steve Kim

Sang Cheol (Steve) Kim was an undergraduate research assistant in the µPHYL group in 2012-2013. He continued on to earn a B.S. degree in both Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering at Duke University.

Christopher Lin

Christopher L. Lin was a Work-Study student in the µPHYL group in 2008-2009 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2008. He subsequently joined Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) as an engineer.

Celeste Poley

Celeste R. Poley was an REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2010. After the internship, she continued to pursue her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Debbie Sanchez

Debbie L. Sanchez  was a MRSEC REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2014. She continued to pursue her B.S. degree in Chemistry at Pepperdine University.

William Scheideler

William J. Scheideler  was a Work-Study student in the µPHYL group in 2011-2013 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2013. He subsequently pursued graduate studied in Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley.

Jan Soto

Jan A. Soto  was  an REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2013 after receiving a B.S. degree from Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in May 2013. He subsequently pursued graduate studied in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M.

Adam Williams

Adam J. Williams was a Pratt Research Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2012-2013 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2013. He subsequently joined TMEIC Corporation as an engineer.

Katrina Wisdom

Katrina M. Wisdom was a Pratt Research Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2011-2012 and received a B.S. degree from Duke University in May 2012. She subsequently pursued graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University.

Jay Young

Jay D. Young was an REU Fellow in the µPHYL group in 2012. After the internship, he continued to pursue his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Brown University.

 

K-12 Teachers

Jeff Faulkner

Jeffrey C. Faulkner is a science teacher at C. W. Stanford Middle School at Hillsborough, NC. He interned in the µPHYL group in 2013 while  pursuing a Ph.D. degree at Grand Canyon University.

Jean Stave

Jean A. Stave spent two summers in the µPHYL group when she was a science teacher at Riverside High School at Durham, NC. She subsequently joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a researcher.
